This is a French-managed hotel offering accommodation in 18 rooms with ensuite facilities. The hotel's Makuti Restaurant serves French, International and seafood dishes on the beachfront. Specialities of the house include: the Fisherman's dish, French Seafood Fondue, Fondue Bourguignone and Spanish Paella. Adjacent to the Restaurant is the Bar, fully-stocked with local as well as international beverages and serving a great variety of cocktails.

The Hotel's Sport and Excursion Centre offers a wide range of activities, including boat trips to the local coral reef and to the island of Zanzibar . Besides marine sports, such as wind-surfing and snorkeling, the center offers mini-golf, archery, table tennis, darts, badminton, volleyball, football and petanque. A swimming pool is nearing completion.

Lazy Lagoon lies in the Zanzibar Channel offshore from mainland Bagamoyo, the capital of German East Africa and the 'gateway to the Dark Continent '. Not only can it boast nine kilometres of deserted beach, but it is also a natural reserve home to many small mammals, mangrove trees and patches of indigenous forest. An idyllic Robinson Crusoe Island, the perfect way to start or end a safari.

The blissful Island of Lazy Lagoon can be found in the Zanzibar Channel just off the coast of Tanzania . The island has nine kilometres of deserted, white, beach and a indigenous forest which provides a home to many small mammals.

It is the perfect place for sun worshipping, swimming and snorkelling but also offers kayaking to explore the lagoon and mangrove forest, sunset dhows to the coral reef and nearby sand islands or a visit to the historical town Bagamoyo.

Accommodation is provided in large, spacious, airy rooms with wide, shaded verandas. The lodge also provides a wide variety of fresh seafood with some truly imaginative menus! The only shortcoming is the distance from Dar es Salaam – it s about an hour’s journey by road.

Against a backdrop of a steep forested hillside. Fundu Lagoon fills a niche for top quality accommodation and food in an upmarket but environmentally sympathetic style. All twenty rooms are very private huge safari tents under makuti in either a beachside or a hilltop position, and all are decked out with hand finished chunky wooden teak floors and connected with nature-trail style rustic wooden rope-banister walkways.

Fundu Lagoon is the epitome of a “bare foot paradise” with a distinct Robinson Crusoe air in a remote and peaceful location. It has been designed for couples and groups of friends looking to escape the usual holiday crowds. Divers and watersports lovers are also catered for who are looking for a perfect combination of quality activities and some of the best diving in the world. Whatever you’re looking for, Fundu Lagoon provides a friendly, relaxed haven of peace and outstanding natural beauty.

There are 16 bungalows, four of which are suites with their own private chill-out decks and plunge pools, the rest of the rooms are standard beachside or ocean view rooms (see below). They are built on hardwood stilted decks, located discreetly amongst the trees on the beach, and higher up overlooking the bay, all with their own sense of privacy yet giving full and easy access to the amenities. Each bungalow has its own hardwood-panelled bathroom with walk-in shower with hot and cold running water and presents the exclusive Fundu Lagoon product range created from local resources. The main areas are all built under thatch and are large and airy and overlook the ocean. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the main area or at the jetty bar with a three-course lunch and dinner, some of the best cuisine to be found in East Africa

The Oceanview rooms are standard rooms situated on the hillside with panoramic views of the Indian Ocean and a cool breeze at nighttime

Beach side rooms: These are standard rooms situated on the beachfront, partly hidden by tropical bushes and trees, allowing you to step directly off your balcony onto the sand

Jungle Suite: Secluded, spacious suite with a tropical jungle feel – a minute’s walk to the beach. Accommodation includes upstairs private chill out area and plunge pool

Superior Suite: these suites offer very spacious accommodation inside and out. They incorporate a stone walled bathroom with double vanity unit and shower, a queen sized bed and open plan lounge. The extensive outside deck houses a large plunge pool and various chill out areas.
